AMU Mourns Death of Former Dental College Principal – India Education | Latest Education News | World Education News


Aligarh: Prof. SH Hashmi, Founding Director of Dr. ZA Dental College (ZADC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) died in a hospital in New Delhi on June 1 Wednesday after suffering from multiple organ failure.

He retired from university after serving as director of the ZADC from 1996 to 2012.

“Professor Hashmi had a remarkable gift for friendship and formed an extraordinarily wide acquaintance with colleagues and students who enjoyed his company. He faced the disease with remarkable courage,” said WBU Vice-Chancellor Professor Tariq Mansoor.

He added: “The University community shares the grief of the bereaved family of the deceased and I wish everyone to find comfort in their memories. He will be greatly missed by his friends, colleagues and students.”

Recalling Professor Hashmi’s tenure at the Dental College, Professor Rajendra Kumar Tewari (Principal, ZADC) said, “Professor Hashmi was known for setting exacting standards few others could match and he was unfailingly generous with sound advice and advice to students and teachers”. .

“Professor Hashmi regularly toured all departments of the Dental College for conversations about improving standards of teaching and patient care. His legacy lives on in his contributions that have proven instrumental in helping teachers and students unravel some of the complexities of dental surgery,” he added.

The deceased is survived by his wife, daughter and son.
