Delta offers several dental policies, is available nationwide, and provides online quotes.
Delta Dental, founded in 1954, has grown into a well-known dental insurance provider that currently insures over 80 million Americans. The plans are designed for individuals, families, retirees and small businesses. You can choose from PPO, HMO, and Direct Dental plans with different coverage options and deductibles to suit your needs.
Delta Dental’s plans vary in cost and coverage depending on where you live, but you can request a free quote online by going to the Delta Dental website and entering your zip code. There are four types of personal plans you can buy to cover implants:
- PPO plans cover preventative care and dental service discounts.
- The Dental Health Maintenance Organization (DHMO) plans focus on preventive dentistry, so there is minimal or no co-payment for preventive care.
- Patient Direct plans offer discounts for a panel of dentists in your area.
- Dental Premier plans charge a fee per service, which means you will not pay more than your copayment and deductible in any given year for covered services.
Delta Dental covers 100% of routine and preventive diagnostic procedures, 80% of basic procedures such as fillings, root canals and extractions, and 50% of major procedures such as bridges and implants. Note that waiting periods, annual maximums, and deductibles apply, and these can dramatically reduce the amount of coverage you can use for implants.
Not all policies cover pre-existing conditions like missing teeth, so you wouldn’t expect to be able to purchase dental implant insurance if your teeth are already missing.
The amount you will pay for a dental insurance plan with Delta Dental depends on where you live, your age, how many people you need coverage for and which plan you choose. However, basic PPO plans can start at around $ 20 per month, and premium PPO plans can cost you up to around $ 65 per month for a 40-year-old.
