The screening program will involve a licensed dental hygienist to perform the visual dental screening and educate parents about issues needing care.

Public Health Sudbury & Districts (PHSD) will be holding dental screening clinics in July and August for children and youth 17 and under. The purpose of the screening is to identify the children’s overall dental health and identify any signs of urgent dental needs, a press release from the health unit said.

PHSD said the screening program will involve a licensed dental hygienist to provide visual dental screening and educate parents about issues needing care. Dental screening is not considered a full examination, but it is a quick and effective way to determine an individual’s oral health status.

Screenings will take place on Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the following days:

  • July 7, 14, 21, 28
  • August 4, 11, 18, 25

Public Health said if screening shows follow-up with a dentist is recommended, PHSD can help you find one. If you don’t have dental coverage and can’t afford dental care, PHSD can find out if you qualify for financial assistance through Healthy Smiles Ontario, the health unit said. .

Additionally, PHSD said no appointment was necessary. Meet at 1300 rue de Paris every Thursday in July or August, between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Remember to wear a mask and stay home if you are sick or in self-isolation.
