Hinman awards nearly $450,000 in scholarships and gifts to dental education programs


ATLANTA, Ga., USA: Earlier this year, the Hinman Dental Society awarded nearly $450,000 in scholarships and gifts to schools and dental education programs. These donations included 89 scholarships, distributed to students in 39 different dental programs throughout the Southeast. Students selected for scholarships were named “Hinman Scholars” and were recognized at a luncheon at the Hinman Dental Meeting, held in March.

“Hinman has been proud to support student programs in the Southeast for 29 years. In the past 16 years alone, the Hinman Dental Society has awarded nearly $8 million in scholarships and major gifts to support dental education,” said Dr. Jim Roos, General Chairman of the 2016 Hinman Dental Meeting. “In addition to offering scholarships and endowments, Hinman invites students to attend the meeting to learn about the latest in the profession, network with established dentists, and prepare for a successful career in dentistry.”

The Hinman Dental Society has awarded scholarships to dental students since 1986, adding dental hygiene students in 1989, laboratory technician students in 2003, and dental assistant students in 2005. Recipients are selected by the Dean of Dentistry , dental hygiene, laboratory technician and dentistry of each school. assistant departments and must be junior students who are members of the American Dental Association, as well as in the top 10% of their class.
