Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said at an event to launch the ranking that the accreditation and evaluation of every institution of higher education will be made compulsory and all institutions will have to be part of the NIRF ranking system. He said the two accreditation systems – National Assessment and Accreditation Council for Institutional Accreditation (NAAC) and National Accreditation Council for Programs (NBA) – will be merged and institutes will be required to have either NAAC accreditation, or NIRF rank to qualify for government funding.
He also said that soon there will be an accreditation system for schools in the country.
