Lifetime Dental Care in Hays hires a licensed dental hygienist. Our dental hygienists are considered the practice’s leading patient educators, helping patients learn how their oral health affects their overall health and what steps they can take to improve it. You will work in partnership with our dentists and other teammates to educate patients about the issues you see, the potential consequences if the issues are left untreated, and the solutions offered by our doctor. You will also conduct oral wellness appointments for new patients, ongoing care, emergencies and periodontal patients. Essential functions

Update patient medical history, record blood pressure, find out any new condition, etc.
Perform a full periodontal assessment including probing depths, bleeding points, recessions, mobility, furcation, etc.
·Perform routine treatment procedures such as x-rays, sealant and fluoride applications and related procedures.
Perform oral prophylaxis, polish and educate patients on home care instructions.
Perform periodontal treatment on all patients as needed based on “Standards of Care” guidelines.
·Work with the physician to enter the treatment plan into the practice management software.
· Save complete appointment notes in practice management software.
Working environment
This job operates in a medical/clinical environment, which will require HIPAA/OSHA training. This role regularly uses standard office equipment such as computers and telephones.
Physical requirements

The employee is often forced to speak and hear; standing for long periods; walking; using the hands to finger, manipulate or smell; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
While performing the job, the employee is routinely exposed to blood and blood-borne pathogens and/or physical hazards, which will require OSHA training.
Type of position and expected working hours
Part-time/full-time position. Hours of operation: Monday to Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Occasionally work is scheduled outside of these hours, e.g. ongoing training and compliance with minimum working days, etc.
Travel
Travel is expected for this position on a limited basis for continuing education.
Training, experience, qualifications required
Associate’s Degree from Accredited Dental Hygiene Program
Knowledge and understanding of dental procedures, terminology and techniques
Valid Kansas HDR License
Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
Nitrous oxide certification
Preferred education and experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited dental hygiene program
·Experience with Eaglesoft and Perio Protect, an asset.
