LAYTON, Utah, April 29, 2022 (Gephardt Daily/Bill’s Marketplace/Sponsored) — When Hillfield Pediatric & Family Dentistry in Layton had just started in 1992, they set themselves an ambitious but serious goal: to provide the best child and dental services Statewide Dental Clinics – a full-service family dental facility that offered affordable prices in a warm and welcoming environment.

The founders knew the bar was high, but it paved their way to excellence. Thirty years after its founding, the family dental practice at 2112 N. Hillfield Rd., Layton, continues to thrive, attracting clients, mostly by word of mouth, from all over Davis and Weber counties, and as far away as Morgan , Brigham City, Logan and even southern Idaho.

Although many customers are familiar faces, “We now have a fourth generation of customers whose families have been coming to see us for years,” said Amanda Caine. She has worn many hats during her 17 years at Hillfield Pediatric & Family Dentistry and is now the senior coordinator of the clinic’s training team.

“We love serving all of these communities,” Amanda said. “They are our friends and neighbors after all, and we would love to welcome anyone who wants to experience a great atmosphere that the whole family can enjoy.”

Putting kids and parents at ease

For parents and children, the Hillfield experience begins as soon as they arrive at the kid-friendly locomotive-themed play area.

“You can get in the caboose and play with some things in there and pretend, and the kids have a lot of fun with that,” Amanda said. “We have an electric train that goes around our pediatric practice, and we have a playroom where they can play with chalk and play on iPads. We have children’s films showing. It’s a really welcoming place for kids, and they understand that it’s somewhere they want to be, and that place is fun.

“We try to make it very welcoming and right from the start they are going to walk in and see a whole office of girls who are super happy, fun and super friendly. We also find dental assistants who can put the child at ease.

Doctors’ experience and expertise

Families who visit Hillfield Pediatric & Family Dentistry are also reassured by the experience and expertise provided by the doctors at the clinic, all of whom have spent years practicing pediatric and family dentistry. The professional services they provide, with the help of their highly trained team of dental assistants and hygienists, include dental cleanings, fillings, extractions and orthodontics.

“Orthodontics, including the use of braces, is no longer just for young people,” Amanda said. “I would say that our oldest patients currently in orthodontics would probably be in their 60s. It’s becoming more and more common. People are living longer and they want to live their best life.

“Younger patients typically begin orthodontic treatments when they have a combination of primary and permanent teeth,” Amanda said.

In addition to orthodontics, the clinic offers bonding, contouring and ceramic or porcelain crowns. They also perform teeth whitening treatments, including the use of veneers.

Long-time client Jenny Gaviotis is among those who say Hillfield is one of the best child and family dentists in the world. She says the energetic and fun staff are so good with her children that she’s happy to put in the hours of driving to the clinic.

“I drive 2.5 hours once a month to take my family to Hillfield Pediatric & Family Dentistry,” she wrote in a review. “My son has autism. Fourteen years ago there were no dental practices specializing in the treatment of children with autism in my area. I love Hillfield Pediatric & Family Dentistry, they are the best because they take time to explain things to my child. He is never scared and they are always patient. Driving 175 miles is worth it every time.

Amanda says she loves these positive comments.

“We want our patients to enjoy and feel confident about their experience here.”

Emergency dental service

Hillfield Pediatric and Family Dentistry understands that some dental issues simply cannot wait to be treated. “It is very important that our patients know what constitutes a dental emergency and that they contact us immediately so that we can treat the problem,” explains the clinic. “We want our patients to know that while some dental issues can be postponed until the next day, certain circumstances can actually affect your health.”

Payment options

Hillfield Pediatric and Family Dentistry accepts insurance, but also realizes that many families pay for their dental care out of pocket. Therefore, Hillfield offers several different types of financial plans and will work with patients so they can receive the dental care they need.
